The Best WoW Private Servers List (2021)
We've picked these servers based on the expansion they are set in. It's no surprise that each of them has vibrant, lively communities and you'll be at home in any of these. To play on these servers, you may need to download a particular version of WoW Client. All of them can be used for free.
Vanilla
There aren't many quality vanilla WoW servers left. Many of them took too much of a blow when Classic launched, and are now ghost towns. There are some we would recommend.
Darrowshire
Darrowshire will be undergoing some changes in comparison to the vanilla experience. It will have 1x XP with the talents and experiences being completely 1.12 basing. In addition, there will be a progressive itemization on the private server. This will include world buffs being disabled and the elimination of the Honor decay system.
Turtle WoW runs on a 1.15 Client that has new zones, such as goblins or high elves. In addition, there are over 1300 new items as well as extra items like Molten Core with new Titles added as well. Although the server isn't overly popular, it's a great place to play Turtle WoW’s Vanilla Plus concepts.
TBC (The Burning Crusade).
Since WoW Classic Retail is currently in its TBC phase, it is hard to recommend any private servers as most have been severely depopulated due to Classic. But, there's one that's still in existence:
Atlantiss (Karazan Server)
The Atlantiss team has been around for quite a while and they have many years of experience to their name. It is home to about 1000 players, even though it is not the largest population. Wowdad It has an XP rate of 2x, with instances and raids being rewritten to provide a better experience.
WOTLK (Wrath Of The Lichking)
WOTLK will soon be coming into WoW Classic. But, for now the expansion appears to be the most popular amongst players and has the most active private server player base.
Although Warmane has been through its fair share controversy, it has remained an integral part of the music scene for a long time. With a healthy, active community and a player base that is very diverse. It's a great choice for those looking to return to WOTLK.
Chromiecraft
Chromiecraft is an extremely progressive WOTLK server, with rates set to 1x. It is still a very fun server, but it isn't quite at its full potential.
Mists Of Pandaria
While it's not the most popular expansion, Mists of Pandaria certainly has its charm. There's only one server we can recommend to anyone who wants this expansion.
Tauri WoW
Turi WoW's scripting is nearly perfect , with virtually no bugs or glitches. The server averages around 1500-1000 players at any given moment and is therefore fairly healthy. If you're looking to try out a newer version of the game, Tauri is definitely a great place to begin!
Custom Non-Bizzlike Servers
The servers are modified and don't have any resemblance to the retail version of the game. These servers are still a joy to use and offer a unique variation to the MMORPG title.
Epislon WoW
Epsilon WoW focuses more on giving the player full control over the entire world. With unique world-building elements and features for customization that allow you to create your own World and invite your friends to join within it.
Ascension WoW
Ascension is a classless version of WoW allows you to create your own character. You can equip any ability or spell in the game. Active PvP has been added to raids, allowing players to take on entire guilds or High-Risk Duels as you seek your way to the top of glory!
